Clarks Desert Boot Ska Edition is set to be released shortly celebrating Ska which started in Jamaica back in the 60′s. The genre of music was then adopted by British Mods and Punks in the 70′s which helped in the genre’s worldwide popularity.
Clarks Originals are paying their respects to Britain’s 2 Tone Ska era by launching the Clarks Original Desert Boot Ska Edition which is part of their British Rock Royalty collection.
The shoe is is constructed with a black and white checkerboard pattern on the uppers, which happens to be a pattern that is strongly associated with the Ska movement. Black suede material makes up the forefoot and tongue, which accompanies the Desert Boot classic crepe soles. In addition a custom British Rock Royalty hang tag that features the Union Jack and a few musical instruments is included which adds a little extra to the the design.

One month after losing their home, school and every possession to Haiti’s earthquake, 100 children from the Maranatha School and Orphanage came together and created 208 masterpieces of art. The children had been sleeping outside, on the streets or under tents since the earthquake.
The project was the initiative of documentary filmmaker Kevin O’Hanlon (FilmsOnArtists) who collaborated with artist Richard Laurent and the Life For The World team to bring canvasses and painting supplies to Maranatha which has been the home and school to over 100 children since 2002.
The concept was to help the kids create their very first paintings. They painted what they wanted to occur in their lives – a home for their family, trees, clothes to wear, a car to drive to town in. The paintings were exhibited at O’Hanlon’s Rogue Space | Chelsea Gallery and the proceeds helped restore the orphanage to its original working condition.
On seeing the children’s painting exhibition, Frank and Caroline Fleischer, who together run a non-profit charitable organization, Franca Art and Fashion, decided to help. Caroline struck on the idea of creating a line of luxury scarves made of the finest cashmere featuring the children’s artwork. Caroline’s vision was to create a series of scarves which could be sold in stores around the world to support the children’s ongoing education and development. Caroline is CEO ofTalents For Fashion, a consulting and international recruitment agency for the fashion industry.Mr. Fleischer is the CEO of TMS Fashion, one of the largest clothing manufacturing companies in Asia. The scarves were manufactured in New Delhi, India. TMS Fashion has been praised by the UN for it’s exemplary adherence to Fair Trade practices and labour laws.
The net proceeds go 100% to building a sustainable community for the children of Maranatha and to creating a more secure future for them. Together with Franca Art and Fashion and the TMS Group, we will develop trade schools, provide for second and third level education, develop means for a stable food supply, and design a model for sustainable living in Haiti that will give hope and inspiration to neighboring communities and all of Haiti.

Reebok Basquiat Affili’Art Collection – Omni Pump Lite
Reebok Basquiat Affili’Art Collection – Omni Pump Lite was recently launched. According to Wikipedia, Jean-Michel Basquiat (December 22, 1960 – August 12, 1988) was an American artist and is cited by Graham Thompson as the first painter of African descent to become an international art star. He started as a graffiti writer in New York City, and in the 1980s produced Neo-expressionist painting. Basquiat died of a heroin overdose on August 12, 1988.
Basquiat was born in Brooklyn, New York to Matilde and Gerard Basquiat. His mother was Puerto Rican and his father is an accountant of Haitian origin. Because of his parents’ nationalities, Basquiat was fluent in French, Spanish, and English before the age of eleven. He read in these languages, including Symbolist poetry, mythology, and history. At an early age, Basquiat displayed an aptitude for art and was encouraged by his mother to draw, paint, and to participate in other art-related activities.
Reebok has launched a new design from the Basquiat Affili’Art Collection. Once again the classic Omni Pump Lite model is chosen for the collaboration, sprinkling Basquiat artwork on the basketball sneaker. Monotone uppers are made from leather, patent leather and mesh materials, balancing out the sporty aesthetic in an unique manner. Embroidery on the shiny patent leather heel panel features the name of the artist in white, mirrored by shiny black midsoles below. Replacing the iconic Pump logo on the tongue, crown illustration and Basquiat signature draws attention on the tongue. Same crown illustration is printed as an all over print on the white leather body of the sneakers.

In4mation x Casio G-Shock GLX-6900XA-9JR “Ice, Gold & Green G-Shock”
We can never forget the first casio g shock seen some 25 years ago growing up in the islands. We been in love with the brand ever since. Durability, toughness and simply cool designs has made this particular brand of Casio watches a main stay. The last 4 years has shown a strong resurgence from Spike Lee, to the BKC having their limited editions.
Here we have the fifth collaborative effort between Casio G-Shock and the Hawaiian brand In4mation’s. Definitely using the colors most often associated with Rastafarian-ism and Reggae (ice, gold and green or to those that don’t know red, yellow and green) here you have a distinct color-blocking effect that is applied over the case and strap to create a high-contrast final piece. The watch will be released later this month. For more info on the brand do visit in4mation’s website.

Forever Kings Lifestyle presents: “Kings Attire” The Genesis
Quoting the words of Biz Markie on this one…”Damn it feels good to see people up on it” we bring to you Forever Kings and their piece, “Kings Attire” The Genesis.
Forever Kings is a collective of individuals who are claiming regality because they know what they are worth and claim that title as humbly as they can. In doing so, they are performing duties and carrying themselves in a manner that is admirable and respectable while attaining the goals they have set for themselves. Quite simply…doing as kings do.
As if taking cue from Ouigi and the rest of the folks over at Brooklyn Circus, these gentlemen are on their way of impacting and quite possibly ushering in a forgotten mentality, a forgotten style of dress, a forgotten way of life. The piece was shot in Frederiksted “Freedom City” St.Croix and on King Street which is only right. To see the video and more images click on Read the rest of this entry »
